Our client is changing the way people live and work in apartments. We are building a reliable and secure smart device management platform for rental housing. Their platform enables apartment residents to live in a smart home and owners and managers to improve the operational efficiency of their properties. Residents in their communities can control their locks, lights, thermostats and more from their mobile and voice apps, while managers use their web portal to reduce property-wide energy use, streamline access for staff, and limit the risk of leaks and extreme temperature events. Our commitment to customer success has helped us grow more than 20x the last three years, and we have raised $25M to achieve our vision. There are more than 250 smart communities going live across the country, from Miami to Seattle, representing over a quarter million devices! A DAY IN THE LIFE AS OUR VP OF PEOPLE OPERATIONS
As our VP of People Operations, you are the strategic partner of the CEO and driving force behind our most essential asset: our people. People Operations is a high-leverage force multiplier for the entire organization. Too often overlooked in other companies, People Operations unleashes the latent potential that exists in the individuals that comprise the organization. It ensures that all employees are productive and fulfilled in their careers, helping them recruit talent, retain talent, and maximize talent’s impact on their strategic business objectives. You and your team interact with and support leadership, managers, and employees, making sure the team lives out our values each day and has the skills, knowledge, and motivation necessary to excel in their jobs and, ultimately, help the company achieve success.
Strategic Leader - You drive consensus on our values, our management philosophies, and their alignment to our business objectives. You ensure that they are lived and understood by the team as a visible member of the executive and leadership teams.
Trusted Advisor - You are a trusted advisor to our CEO with a deep understanding of our business goals. You are an essential member of the executive team that crafts corporate strategy. And you are a caring advocate for our 50+ employees, helping managers and team members navigate challenges as they and the company grow.
Talent Acquisition - You organize and drive our talent acquisition process, guiding hiring managers in their search for great talent, building our brand, and driving an efficient talent “sales” funnel.
Performance Management - With training, tools, and process, you enable managers to act as extensions of the people operations team and to drive high performance among their teams via effective 1on1s and reviews.
Learning and Development - Using free and paid internal and external resources, you enable the team to develop themselves and their teams to operate at the highest level possible, even leading a session or two on topics that matter the most.
Work Environment - You and your team create an amazing work environment, characterized by energy, psychological safety, and employee engagement, and you run fun and exciting initiatives.

WHO YOU ARE / SUCCESS CHARACTERISTICS
Experienced Startup Professional - You have run people operations at an early stage technology company before and have 5+ years of director level experience or higher
Expert in HR - You are an expert in risk management and employment laws
Effective Leader - You are capable of coaching, guiding, and influencing executives and managers to adopt people operations’ best practices
Player-Coach - You are capable of driving strategic initiatives through others while also rolling up your sleeves and producing output yourself
- You are passionate about creating a high-performing organization that provides fulfilling and engaging opportunities to its employees and wins in the market
